Ein Gedi
En Gedi is the biggest oasis in Israel. It has springs and waterfalls, and flowing brooks at the foot of the cliffs, home to ibexes and rock hyraxes.
Located about an hour's drive from Jerusalem on the shores of the Dead Sea, thi is one of Israel's premier hiking spots and offers the opportunity to get close to nature and step back in time as you overlook the biblical landscape of the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea.
Worth a stopover for 1-2 nights if you're heading North to Jerusalem or South to EIlat, you can also use it as a base to experience the Dead Sea and the nearby spectacular ruins of the Masada hilltop fortress.
